More cork jars available on Etsy

Think of the magic you can do with these jars.
Another item that I was taking photos of were a new butch of small cork jars that my wife hand-throws on the potter's wheel. I was experimenting with the camera again, trying to learn how to take better photos...with mixed results (my wife, the art teacher would not give me a passing grade for this photo).

Now, I like this photo--my wife doesn't. It was an experiment. One of the difficulties that I have taking photos of her pottery is that the glaze is so shiny, and occasionally the camera I am using has a difficult time recording the true color of the glaze. So in this photo, I was experimenting to see if a white background would help. My wife disapproves of the picture because I used wrinkled paper. *sigh*

These corked herb jars are available on her Etsy--Celtic Soul Jewelry and Pottery page for $18 (American) apiece.

Cork and Ceramic Herb Jars

Among the items that my wife recently placed on her Etsy Celtic Soul Jewelry and Pottery store are several corked herb jars. The first video here is a green Crazed Copper with Royal Blue lip and inside decorated with moons and stars. The second video is of two Oasis Blue herb jars decorated with stars.

Pansy Purple cork jar

Here is a video clip of the Pansy Purple wheel-thrown cork jar that my wife has available for sale in her Etsy Celtic Soul Jewelry and Pottery store. This is one of those pieces that digital media (whether still or motion) does not reproduce real well--the actual color of the jar is deeper than the digital media shows it. On picture days, this particular purple color is a color that I struggle to take good pictures of--someday, I will figure out the right settings to use--I hope.

Been taking pottery photos for a long time

Assorted pottery by Toni Penn of Celtic Soul Jewelry and Pottery.
Morgan here---Today, I am busy editing the latest round of jewelry photos. Earlier today, while doing a "brute search" on the computer for a photo that Toni wanted to consult of a past pottery piece, I realized that I have been taking pottery photos for six years now. Some of the photos I am still pleased with (aka I still like the photos). Like this photo which was taken in September 2008 of assorted herb jars, a mortar and pestle, and a cauldron---I still think that this is a good photo. The herbs in the background, spearmint and mugwort, are from the herb garden that grows outside of the pottery studio.

Toni is busy throwing more stuff for both the September 10th Handmade Hookup Craftshow and Spiritways as well as writing up descriptions for some pendant pieces that are going to be put up on Etsy by the end of the week.

More items available at Spiritways

Two of the mortar and pestles and a herb jar now available at Spiritways
This morning, my wife took twenty-five items of pottery over to Spiritways. There were both medium and small mortars and pestles, as well as corked herb jars, in this shipment.

So if you live in Denver Colorado and want to personally check out some of my wife's pottery, slip into Spiritways, which is located at 3301 E. Colfax Avenue.
